Coaching Staff
Boys' Cross-Country:
Craig Blahnik
Craig Blahnik comes to Bedford from West Running Brook Middle School in Derry and will teach science and coach Boys Cross-Country. His interest in track and cross-country go back to his high school years where he participated in those sports (and others). Today he continues to run for enjoyment and occasionally competes in road racing
Girls' Cross-Country:
Emily Blahnik
Emily Blahnik currently teaches at Memorial School in Bedford and will coach Girls Cross-Country at Bedford High School. As an athlete in high school Emily participated in the majority of track and field events with an emphasis on distance racing. She continues to enjoy running and occasionally competes in road racing.
Field Hockey:
Jennifer Durgin
Jennifer Durgin comes to Bedford High School where she will teach Wellness and coach Varsity Field Hockey. Jennifer brings a strong background in field hockey, having played varsity field hockey for four year at Gorham High School, in Maine. She was also a starter for four years at Springfield College, where they were ECAC Champions and made an appearance in the NCAA Tournament. During the 2005 school year she served as the varsity field hockey coach at Catherine McAuley High School, in Maine.
Jill Corson
Jill Corson Comes to Bedford High School from Pembroke Academy. She will teach English and will coach the Junior Varsit y Field Hockey team. While at Pembroke Jill coached the junior varsity field hockey team for three years.
Football:
Jim O’Keefe
Jim O’Keefe joins our staff as Head Football Coach. He is currently a representative for Josten’s Incorporated for the State of New Hampshire. Jim graduated from the University of Connecticut with a degree in Physical Education and earned four varsity letters while playing for the Huskies. He brings to Bedford High school 10 years of coaching experience, having coached football at the University of Rhode Island, St. Anselm College, Concord High School and Bishop Brady High School. In 2003 he was the keynote speaker at the NHIAA Student Leadership Conference. Jim has also been a popular speaker in many college athletic departments throughout New England helping student-athletes transition from college to career.
Derek Stank
Derek Stank comes to Bedford High School where he will teach Wellness and work as an Assistant Football coach and as Varsity Indoor and Outdoor Track & Field coach. Having a solid background in those sports as a high school athlete, Derek continued at the University of New Hampshire where in 2006, as a defensive end, he served as team Captain. In track & Field his concentration was on the shot put, discus and javelin.
Noah Pion
Noah Pion attended the University of New Hampshire with a degree in Pedagogy with an emphasis in Physical Education. He will work at Bedford High School in the Special Education Department. Noah was a three-sport athlete in high school excelling in football, track & field, and basketball. He will be working as an assistant coach in Football, indoor track and outdoor track
Allistair Sebastian
Ali Sebastian will work as an assistant football coach at Bedford High School. He is currently employed as a teacher assistant for Easter Seals in Manchester. A graduate of St. Johns University, he possesses a strong football background. He has coached several camps and has volunteered at the high school level. He continues to play football as a member of the Manchester Wolves in the Arena League.
Golf:
Joel St. Laurent
Joel St. Laurent is currently the Club Professional at Manchester Country Club in Bedford, a position he has held for 7 years. He will continue in that role and will be coaching Bedford High School’s Varsity Golf team. Throughout his career he has participated in (and has won) several New England ProAm tournaments. He has been a member of Professional Golfers of America for 26 years, has served as New England and New Hampshire PGA vice president and membership chair of the N.E.P.G.A. In 2004 Joel received the Bill Straughsbaugh Award (New England section) for service and dedication to the P.G.A.
Boys' Soccer:
Stuart Pepper
Stuart Pepper comes to Bedford High School where he will teach Social Studies and coach Varsity Boys’ Soccer. He began teaching physical education and coaching soccer in the United Kingdom prior to coming to the United States in 2001. For the past 6 years Stuart has worked as a teacher and boys’ soccer coach at Hollis -Brookline. In 2002 Stuart was named “NHIAA Soccer Coach of the Year”. Stuart has also been involved with youth soccer as Nashua Girls' Soccer Association Director of Coaching, Seacoast United Soccer Club, and Nike Premier 50 National Soccer Camp in Portland Oregon.
Derek Geddes
Derek Geddes joins the Bedford High School staff as an English teacher and will be serving as the Junior Varsity Boys soccer coach. Derek brings with him a strong soccer background, having coached in Weare for 5 years where his teams attained two runnersup titles and one championship.
Girls' Soccer:
Michelle Winning
Michelle Winning teaches 8th grade Social Studies and will coach Varsity Girls’ Soccer in Bedford. Her playing experience started at McKelvie Middle School and extended through high school and college, where she received various awards for academic and athletic (soccer) achievement. Michelle began coaching at McKelvie in 2000. In 2002 she assumed the head coaching position at Concord High School. In 2004 she moved on to West High School in Manchester where she coached JV and assisted with varsity girls’ soccer before assuming the varsity position in 2006.
Rebecca Gates
Rebecca Gates comes to Bedford High School from Kennett High School as a Math teacher and will serve as the Alpine Ski Coach and Junior Varsity Girls Soccer Coach. While an undergraduate at St. Michaels College Becky competed in Alpine skiing and Soccer. She has coached skiing at the Green Mountain Valley School in Vermont and has coached at the J-3 level at Wildcat Mountain. In soccer Becky has coached the Kennett Junior High School girls soccer team since 2002. Additionally, for the past three years, Becky has coached the U-18 Mt. Washington Valley Girls soccer Club.
Spirit (Fall):
Jennifer Tavares
Jennifer Tavares will serve as the Spirit Coach for Bedford High School this Fall and Winter. Jenn brings a great deal of experience with her, having cheered while in school, including four years at Southern New Hampshire University. She has coached at the high school level and, most recently, was the Head Cheerleading Coach at SNHU. In 2006 her team placed 6th at the National Cheerleading Association Collegiate Cheer and Dance competition. In 2007 they were the US Cheer National Champions. She is also certified in the American Association of Cheerleading Coaches and Administrators National Safety Certification Program.
Sarah Elkins
Sarah Elkins is a middle school math teacher in Derry and will be assisting the Sprit Team this fall. Sarah has a strong background in cheerleading, having worked with youth cheerleading and with the middle school program in Derry.
Girls' Volleyball:
Emma Carole
Emma Porter Carole will be joining the Bedford High School staff from Trinity High School in Manchester, NH as a Social Studies teacher and as Varsity Girls’ Volleyball Coach. Emma’s most recent coaching experience was at Trinity High School where she served as that school’s first volleyball coach. In their second year of competition, she led the Pioneers to the NHIAA tournament
Joseph Kegler
Joseph Kegler joins the Bedford High School staff as a Social Studies teacher, Boys Varsity Basketball Coach and Junior Varsity Girls Volleyball coach. Joe comes to us from Ridgefield (Conn.) High School where he coached Football, Girls and Boys Volleyball, Baseball and Basketball. In 2002 he was selected as Boys Basketball “Coach of the Year”. In 2004 he accepted an assistant basketball coaching position with Western Connecticut State University.
